Dr. Oz Says, “YES!” to Fast Food Diets!

Did you catch Dr. Oz Friday afternoon?
He endorsed a fast food diet!

Yup, Dr. Oz who seems to be America’s premier and most trusted meditainera meditainer is a person who entertains on television with good, bad or quasi medical information – says fast food is okay!

Dr. Oz's guest said she got her 3 meals a day, every day, at the drive-thru window!

Dr. Oz introduced a young woman who copped to being a “fast food fanatic.” She said she got all three meals daily at the drive through. On the outside she looked like she wasn’t suffering any ill effects from her favorite dining option, but Oz actually showed us what she was doing to her insides. Not pretty!

Predictably Dr. Oz told her she must improve the way she eats and as she looked skeptically at him, she assured him she would do that because she was still shaken by what was going on inside her arteries.

Then, the good doctor dropped the good news on her.

“You can still eat by going through the drive-thru,” said Oz!

Her face said, “No way!”

Oz assured her, “yes way” and to help you make better choices meet Hungry Girl!”

I love Hungry Girl!

She and I share a special interest. It’s eating food we love, and avoiding deprivation. We like to taste all the good food of the world while maintaining a nutritious diet and a healthy weight.

Fast food isn’t my first choice when it comes to dining out, but it’s often the easiest choice when I’m on the road. Fast food restaurants are easy to find. I already know what’s on the menu and that makes ordering less complicated.Screen Shot 2014-07-08 at 10.30.39 AMI can count on the size of the servings and portions are always a surprise when dining in a restaurant that’s not standardized like fast food. Including fast food on my food plan McWorks for me!

Hungry girl shared some tips and opened eyes with exposing how some fast food veggie burgers have more fat and calories than a big cheeseburger and fries!

By the time fast food finishes "dressing up" a veggie burger to please the palate of their customers, may no longer the good choice the name "veggie burger" suggests!

Her advice was to ask questions and don’t be shy to make sure they prepare your food so that you can “have it your way!”

Dr Oz is a respected cardiologist. He is Vice-Chair and Professor of Surgery at Columbia University. He directs the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He has authored or co-authored more than 400 original publications, book chapters, and medical books and has received several patents. He performs 100 heart operations annually. He has nothing to gain by endorsing fast food.

If he says ‘yes” to fast food, albeit eaten within balanced guidelines, embracing his advice will help a lot of people reach and maintain a healthy weight without any guilt because of a dirty little fast food secret!
