I think it’s time we stop trying to follow a weight loss plan that was made by somebody else, for somebody else. With that approach we are overlooking the most important person – Me!
The I Love Me diet is based on two winning principles.

You’re the greatest! You are powerful, capable and completely deserving of all the best. Trust yourself to know what’s best for you and to be able to make the best (and sometimes “the best of slightly less-than-great”) choices!
1. I love me and I want the best for me.
2. I trust me and I know what’s best for me.
That’s it – two principles – loving and trusting.
If you have that as the foundation of your weight loss plan, you have everything you need upon which to build for guaranteed success.
How does loving yourself and wanting the best for yourself relate to what you need to do to lose weight?
Too many people approach weight loss as a self-punitive action. They say they’re disgusted with themselves. They say they are weak, lack willpower and discipline and need to have their butts kicked in order to stick to a weight loss plan. These negative feelings don’t support positive actions. Moreover, life is meant to enjoy. Inflicting punishment on ourselves doesn’t empower us. It reinforces how undeserving we are to get anything better than what we currently have.
Loving yourself is the same as saying, “I’m great and wonderful and deserve to have the very best of everything. I want to make myself happy and have the best version of me!”
Approaching weight loss from a position of wanting better than what you have and self-rewarding instead of punishing.
These are the things you want to do because they will make you happy:
- Reduce calories
- Eat highly nutritious and delicious food
- Maintain satisfaction (avoid feeling hungry or deprived of treats)
Trust yourself to have a treat once in a while. You deserve a treat and you can handle a treat because you have the skill of flexible restraint!
- Enjoy a variety of fun physical activities
- Surround yourself with positive people who share the same objectives.
If you don’t love yourself, it’s hard to trust yourself. If you don’t trust yourself you put yourself in a position to trust those who aren’t trustworthy. Trusting in yourself is not the same as being perfect. It’s trusting your ability to get to where you want to go even when you take detours!
Love yourself, trust yourself and achieve a better, healthier, happier, more delicious, fun-filled, active life of your dreams!
