Holiday Season Power Phrase for People Watching Their Weight

One down, two to go!

So, Thanksgiving is over, and all that’s left is just a few scraps of meat on turkey carcass. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You may be pleased or displeased with your Thanksgiving performance. You might want to repeat your actions on Christmas and New Year’s or maybe you want to never eat that much all at once again.

Success is all a matter of how you talk to yourself.?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Instead of giving yourself negative messages about yourself and your ability to lose weight, keep it positive. Positive self-talk will keep you motivated no matter what happens. Positive self-talk things into perspective. You only have successes and opportunities – no failures!

Refuse to be a victim and you will stay strong and you’ll avoid doubting your ability to achieve your weight-related goals. Taking responsibility for your actions is extremely empowering even when you choose to eat a lot.

One little phrase can make all the difference in how close you stick to your weight loss plan or, how far you stray. Before I get to the power phrase, I want to say a few things about sticking or straying with an eating plan for weight loss or maintenance.

Sticking or straying isn’t a sign of your moral character.

Sticking isn’t equivalent to good any more than straying is bad. Sticking isn’t a sign of strength or self-discipline. Straying isn’t a sign of weakness or lack of willpower.

Sticking or straying is just a matter of making a choice to get what you want at the moment. The choice to stick or stray was a choice you made to get what you wanted.

That’s all it was; remember that, and know that you can always make choices that get you what you want. Sometimes you will have to decide what you want the most. Do you want to stick with your food plan or stray so that you can eat a little – or a lot – more than your food plan limits?

“If what I want is the freedom to eat beyond my food plan, I am choosing to do that.”

“If I want to stay on my food plan for better weight loss progress, I am choosing to do that.”

“Stick or stray, I’m in control and I’m making the choice to get what I want! I’m not a victim, I’m always capable of doing what I want.”

That brings me to the power phrase that will not only get you through the holidays but all the other challenges faced by those of us who have to actively manage our weight.?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

HERE IS THE POWER PHRASE

“When I know what I want, I can make a choice to get it!”

That one, simple phrase can make the difference between getting to goal or giving up. When you accept responsibility for whatever happens with your weight management adherence, you then have the power to change the things that undermine it and choose the actions that support it.

To quote Brad in Fast Times as Ridgemont High,

“Learn it, know it, LIVE IT!”
